BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks nerve impulses to muscles, thereby stopping the muscles from contracting. This reduces the appearance and formation of fine lines in the area injected. BOTOX® Cosmetic is mainly used to treat the forehead, between the eyes, and the crow’s feet area around the eyes.
The same nerve signals which cause muscles to contract are also responsible for excessive underarm sweating. BOTOX® is an excellent treatment for this problem.
Fillers
Deeper wrinkle lines that have been etched into the skin require filling from below in order to soften their appearance. Dr Lain uses multiple different types of these filling substances, called fillers. These include collagen, Restylane®, Sculptra™, Radiesse™, and others.
Peels
Chemical peels are a time-tested method for treating mature skin. Dr Lain’s experience with the different peeling agents allows him to determine the right one for your skin. Some chemical peels are formulated to treat the uppermost layer of your skin, such as glycolic acid or salycilic acid, which work well for treating darkening of the skin, acne, skin roughness, and very fine wrinkles. Other peels penetrate deeper and have a greater effect on fine lines and wrinkles, such as TCA.
Patients achieve the most successful results when multiple peels are done in succession and are combined with a comprehensive at-home skin care system formulated by Dr. Lain specifically for your skin.
Spider Veins
Spider veins are small, superficial veins which have lost their ability to push blood back to the heart. The blood causes the veins to appear red or purple, often in a branching pattern. Certain factors increase the risk of developing spider veins, including age, weight, hormones, pregnancy, prolonged standing, and genetics.
Sun exposure can also be a factor in the development of spider veins, especially on the nose and cheeks.
Dr Lain uses sclerosing agents to treat spider veins on the legs. Injecting a small amount into the veins both pushes the blood out and prohibits the blood from returning. Combining these treatments with the use of compression hose for a short time afterwards gives the best results.
Acne Scars
Acne scarring is a very common problem and one that is difficult to resolve. Dr. Lain uses multiple methods to treat this, including subcision, peels, surgical removal, and fillers. A few visits are normally required in order to achieve the best results.
